The Challenge

A joined-up user experience takes relieves some of the anxiety associated with a hospital visit

Attending a hospital appointment can be a stressful event - no matter what the circumstances. The Go NHS Tayside web app helps to make the travel element of this easier by helping patients get to their appointment using public transport. The issue of travelling to and parking in UK hospitals is well documented and this is an excellent example of how our Fuse MaaS platform can be configured and deployed to join up and improve the users experience of accessing essential public services.

What we did

On clicking the link, the patient is presented with a full range of public transport travel options

Working with our joint venture MaaS business, Fuse Mobility, and Regional Transport Partnership, Tactran, we developed an online travel planning application that can be used by patients visitors and staff to get to NHS health centres, hospitals and clinics using public transport.

Go NHS Tayside is a WCAG 2.1AA accessible web interface that acts as a front end to our Fuse MaaS Platform. With pre-set location parameters based on the patient’s appointment a journey planning search is already set up within the system. On clicking the link, the patient is presented with a full range of public transport travel options across Train, Bus, Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) and local Taxi Services that will get them there and back with minimum fuss.
